Full residential design services, consultation, and construction management for new construction, remodels or additions
With over 35 years experience in the housing industry, Jim’s creations are site-specific and reflect the tastes his clients. As a graduate in architecture and licensed as a general contractor for 30 years, Jim blends the knowledge derived from his architectural training with the sensibilities of a career in housing to create unique, one-of-a-kind custom homes or full product line packages for general contractors. New homes recognize all the characteristics a site offers: views, solar orientation, prevailing winds, access, and surrounding neighbors. These homes are always more marketable and typically re-sell for higher prices than their “comparable” neighbors. Love where you’re at? Remodel and addition projects up-date and blend seamlessly with parent structures, bringing new life to existing buildings and often greatly improving energy efficiency. Jim is a Life Director of the New Mexico Home Builders Association and is the only member to be twice named “Associate of the Year”.
Landscape Architecture
Jim is a Registered New Mexico Landscape Architect and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Whether planning for a new home or commercial facility, creating an exciting outdoor living environment, evaluating a site for development, or just reviving a tired “hardscape”, Jim’s career of expertise is recognized for sensitive and sensible solutions. On-site water harvesting techniques, sustainability and an extensive knowledge of native vegetation have long been an integrated part of the environmental concern inherent in all designs.
Energy audits for existing buildings
Working with licensed “HERS” raters, Jim will make recommendations that will improve the energy efficiency of your building, improve indoor air quality and livability, and bring long term value.
Building Code Consultation
As a professional member of the International Code Council, Jim has served on the State of New Mexico Code Committee for over twenty years. He also serves on the State CID General Construction Bureau’s Technical Advisory Committee, NMHBA’s Building Issues Committee, and is a regular resource to owners, contractors and attorneys on building code related issues. He can guide you through all of the latest changes in both Building and Energy Codes.
